1. We understand that in most cases, carriage assemblies are mounted on the № 16 channel beam purchased from you.
The № 16 channel beam crowns a foundation for sliding cantilever gates, which is constructed below the frost line (100-120 cm).
The level of the channel beam usually corresponds to the «0» point of the site. This is the level of the tiles or the finishing surface of the area.
For particularly cautious developers, the channel beam is mounted lower, at the height of the brickwork, so that only the carriage assemblies are visible in the end.
2. Methods of attaching the carriage assemblies:
— The most rudimentary method is simply welding the carriage bases to the channel beam.
Clearly, fine adjustment of the gates and carriage assemblies during or after this installation method is impossible.
Any further manipulations require cutting with an angle grinder and welding equipment.
Metal shims are used for fine adjustment, placed under the carriage bases in an attempt to achieve the necessary settings.
If the gates sag due to construction errors or foundation subsidence, resolving this issue will not be easy.
Another common and gross mistake during installation is allowing welding currents to pass through the carriage bearings (incorrect grounding of the welding machine's negative cable).
— Welding mounting/adjustment plates and then installing the carriage bases on them by simply screwing them from above.
— Welding mounting/adjustment plates onto appropriately sized sections of profiled pipe, corresponding to the height of the brickwork tiles. Usually, pipe sections of 80×100 are used.
The advantages are obvious: fine adjustment of the gates is possible, adjustment during operation, repair and replacement of sliding gate hardware in case of mechanical damage.
