SP Premier manufactures ground screw piles (geo-screws) in Kyiv from ST3 (СТ3, equivalent S235JR) steel with hot-dip galvanizing per DIN EN ISO 1461: a 70 ± 10 µm zinc layer and a 20-year warranty. The catalog offers four sizes: Ø21, 42, 60 and 76 mm, 0.8 to 1.5 m long. The piles bear from 0.40 to 2.50 t in compression. Ø21 is used for awnings and lights, Ø42–60 for fences, terraces and gazebos, Ø76 for bathhouses and frame structures. You can screw the piles in yourself, buy or rent our electric drive or order installation in Kyiv and the Kyiv region: +38 050 431-70-60.
All piles in the catalog share the same design: a steel tube with a pointed tip and a narrow multi-turn blade. Below are four models with their length, flight and bearing capacity. The compression and pull-out figures are averages for soils where a ground screw pile performs as intended: sandy loam, loam and sand.
| Model | Diameter × wall, mm | Length / flight, mm | Compression, t | Pull-out, t | Suitable structures |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| SPGS 21x2x800(350) | 21 × 2 | 800 / 350 | 0.40 | 0.30 | awnings, anchors for tent guy lines, garden lights, decorative fences |
| SPGS F 42x3x1200(350) | 42 × 3 | 1200 / 350 | 0.61 | 0.46 | pergolas, gazebos, terraces, light canopies, fences, enclosures |
| SPGS F 60x3x1200(500) | 60 × 3 | 1200 / 500 | 1.38 | 0.76 | gazebos, terraces, canopies, fences, gates |
| SPGS F 76x3x1500(500) | 76 × 3 | 1500 / 500 | 2.50 | 1.27 | bathhouses, light modular and frame structures, canopies, gates, fences |
The pile name tells you right away what the product is. Take SPGS F 60x3x1200(500) as an example:

The pile size is chosen by the load on a single support. Divide the total weight of the structure by the number of piles, and the result must be lower than the table value. In our calculations we add a 25–30% margin. This is our internal practice, not a building code requirement.
Compression load shows how much the pile holds under pressure. Pull-out load shows how much it withstands when pulled up. For a terrace, look at the first figure; for a fence or gate, at the second.
At SP Premier we always start the calculation with the geometry of the structure: dimensions, number of floors, wall material and type of strapping. Without this data, any figure is a guess.
Two layout rules apply to any diameter:
The full calculation of length, spacing and number of piles, with examples for a terrace, a gazebo and a fence, is in the article "Calculating a ground screw pile foundation".
The blade must sit entirely below the soil layer that freezes and heaves every winter.
Check the length with the formula L1 = A + L2 + H, where:
The most common beginner mistake is calculating the length as "frost depth plus a bit of margin" and forgetting L2. The flight is added to the frost depth, not included in it. If the formula gives a value greater than the length of the chosen model, call us before buying: we will find a solution for your structure.
A ground screw pile carries the load with its blade, not with the tube wall. As the pile is screwed in, the soil between the turns is compacted and tightly encloses the helix. That is why the pile is ready to bear load right after installation, with no need to wait as with concrete.
After installation, the flanges are leveled horizontally, and a grillage of channel beams is assembled on top. It ties the piles into a single rigid structure, on which the frame, joists or an embedded part for a gate are then mounted.
We make SP Premier piles from St3 steel and protect them with hot-dip galvanizing per DIN EN ISO 1461. The zinc layer is 70 ± 10 µm thick; we regularly check it with a gauge on finished piles.
The calculated service life of a pile is at least 50 years, and up to 120 years in a non-aggressive environment. This estimate is based on the metal thickness and theoretical calculations of the rate of corrosion processes. The actual lifespan depends on the moisture and composition of the soil on the site.
SP Premier ground screw piles come with a 20-year warranty.

Ground screw piles work on most private construction sites, including wet and weak soils where a concrete foundation is difficult to make.
Suitable for:
Not recommended for:
The limitation has the same cause in both cases: the blade either will not pass through or will deform, and the calculated compaction will no longer be achieved.
While screwing in, we at SP Premier always monitor the resistance. If the pile goes in too easily at the design depth or suddenly "stops", we revise the calculation for that point. Driving a pile in with a hammer is not allowed: the impact deforms the flight, and the table bearing capacity no longer applies.
| Method | What you need | Where it fits |
|---|---|---|
| By hand | a vertical guide hole no wider than the pile, an adapter head for the flange, lever pipes | small diameters and shallow depths |
| SP GS 1800 electric drive | 2–3 people | Ø42, 60, 76 mm piles up to 1500 mm long where machinery cannot get in: between houses, on slopes, on waterfronts, among plantings |
| Special machinery | hydraulic rigs based on BOBCAT and AVANT loaders | sites with vehicle access, installation in Kyiv and the Kyiv region |
The SP Premier SP GS 1800 electric drive delivers a torque of 500–1800 N·m at a power of 1800 W and a speed of 8 rpm; the drive weighs 9.2 kg.
One rule applies to any method: the pile must deviate from vertical by no more than 2°. Check verticality with a spirit level throughout the screwing-in process, not only at the start.
Piles can be installed in winter too. A pile goes into frozen ground harder, so you need suitable equipment, more time and more effort.
For light structures, fences and gates, ground screw piles win on time and volume of work. But there are soils where they do not work, and you need to know this before buying.
| Parameter | Ground screw piles | Concrete foundation |
|---|---|---|
| Earthworks | not required | trench or pit, drainage, reinforcement, formwork |
| Readiness for load | immediately after installation | after the concrete gains strength |
| Installation season | year-round, including frost | depends on weather and temperature |
| Site after work | no leftover concrete, gravel or sand; lawn and plantings stay intact | cleanup after concrete work is required |
| Limitations | rocky soils, construction debris in the soil | long work cycle and waiting time |

Delivery and installation of ground screw piles:
SP Premier has manufactured metal structures since 2002 and galvanized ground screw piles since 2016.
Yes. A ground screw pile is called a geo-screw because it is screwed into the ground like a screw, without preliminary digging.
Yes. Ø21 mm piles and shallow depths are screwed in by hand with levers. For Ø42–76 mm it is easier to buy or rent an electric drive (pile driver), but it takes 2–3 people to work with it.
With a 2 m spacing, you get 10 piles around the perimeter plus 2 in the middle row, 12 in total. If the joists span 4 m without an intermediate support, the middle row is not needed, and 10 piles are enough.
For a light garden structure, yes, using the length formula and the layout rules above. For a residential house, we check the soil and calculate the length, diameter and spacing individually for the specific site.
We do turnkey installation in Kyiv and the Kyiv region. We deliver piles across Ukraine.
